Boris
If there was any more reason to vote Boris (as opposed to the other two main candidates, one a loser, and the other both a loser and a cheat): Labour MP Kate Hoey (MP for Vauxhall) to be Boris Johnson's Sport Advisor if he becomes London Mayor. (I'm impressed by Kate Hoey's tough stance on the Olympic Games in relation to Tibet, as mentioned here).
She wrote ("Olympic ideals? It's a grotesque charade"), "The Chinese must not be allowed to take the torch into Tibet, parading it past terrorised people. The IOC must ask for the immediate release of political prisoners and they must demand that the Chinese allow full media access to Tibet. If the Beijing Games are to have a chance of being a sporting event, and not a grotesque charade, then our Prime Minister has to toughen up, demonstrate leadership and join the French President in threatening a boycott of the opening ceremony."
Yes, I think it's quite grotesque that the Olympic flame should be made to be paraded through oppressed lands i.e. Pyongyang, N. Korea (where protest was guaranteed to not take place) and of course Tibet. I know we're not supposed to mix sports and politics, but the Chinese government do, really. So why shouldn't we?
I was amused to note that Boris used a Rocky analogy (like Clinton): "We [Sky News] met him for breakfast at Smithfield meat market in London where no-nonsense butchers had already been up all night. Much to their amusement he took on the guise of Rocky Balboa, air punching an animal carcass." [Sky News - Boris: From Clown To King Of London?]
Addendum This would be a good example of "bipartisan" working - Boris is Conservative (the main opposition) whereas Kate is Labour (governing party).
